The Rise of Conformity

We are wrestling with conformity this week. I am now "queer" in the teen vernacular, because I am taking video for YouTube and publishing this blog. "None of my friends want to see this....." Any creativity out of the norm is not acceptable. Oh well. Surf this out with the rest of the phases, and maybe they will get interested in the cross between technology and creativity that this blog represents.

maybe the kids do not want to be on the blog, they think it is embarrising to them. u may want to take them off the blog. parents tell their kids not ot go on myspace or facebook because they might be found by creepy people. you are leaving them open for harm. *tell me ur thoughts, ur friend robert*

I found your blog from your LinkedIn profile (via your family webpage). I know *exactly* how you feel in this post. A while ago I joined FaceBook, set up a page and linked to my kid's pages. I thought it was great but some of Matthew's friends found me and started inviting me to dorm parties at Vanderbilt. They thought it was hilarious but Matthew certainly did NOT. He asked me to leave FaceBook immediately. It seems like a parent who embraces new technology cannot use it to link up with their kids. The kids see it as their own and don't want any parental involvement.
